Subject: Course Reflection
In case you haven’t noticed: we are nearing the end of the semester and our time together as a Writing Workshop I class. I want you to think about the journey you’ve taken this semester to become a better writer and more specifically, to take a moment to reflect on the research project.
Write me a memo addressing the following and anything else you think you want me to know about your experience:
- your expectations of the class based on your experiences with writing instruction;
- what you’ve gotten out of the class (this will probably be course specific stuff, but it doesn’t have to be);
- the things you still haven’t figured out yet about writing (I still have a list of things, myself);
- and finally, what advice would you give to students who are taking my class in the fall?
I’m very proud of the work we accomplished this summer. If you enjoyed this class, think about how much effort you put into it: participating in class, being prepared every class meeting, attending class every day, caring about the work you did for the class. Every class you take can be like the experience we had in Writing I, but it’s up to you to invest yourself in the class. Okay, I’ll stop professing.
